2022 Conference

EPTA Hybrid Conference 2022

Pentecostal Theology: Mainstream and Extremes

4-6 July 2022

At the College of Theology and Social Sciences in Warsaw, Poland, and online for those who are not able to attend in-person

EPTA conferences combine academic papers and discussion with times of worship, fellowship and prayer for those who wish—and this year’s will be no exception. The formal programme leaves plenty of free time for personal interaction between delegates. In particular, there is a free afternoon for outings, including a tour of Warsaw Old Town. Provision is also made for online delegates to engage with as many conference activities as possible.

All members of EPTA are encouraged to attend. As ever, others interested in the work of EPTA are warmly welcome, especially research students. Those living in or near Warsaw are welcome as day visitors. Pastors and others involved in church life on a day-to-day basis will find much of interest in the conference. (Please note that the conference will be conducted in the English language, and no simultaneous translation will be provided.) There are day rates for local visitors (see below).

In-person conference places are only available for EU passport holders or those who have permission or a visa to enter the EU. Apologies to all others as EPTA cannot facilitate visa entries. Visas are obviously not needed for those attending the conference online.

The theme of the conference is ‘Pentecostal Theology: Mainstream and Extremes’. The conference explores the nature, purpose, and focus of Pentecostal theology in the late modern world. It seeks to analyse and discuss what may be identified as the ‘mainstream’ and the ‘extremes’ in Pentecostal theology and practice worldwide. The theme invites reflection on the diversity of Pentecostal theological methods, themes, doctrines, and practices. EPTA encourages research on Pentecostal and Charismatic movements in Europe and further afield, and it welcomes theological, biblical, historical, and interdisciplinary presentations. Academic papers are presented and discussions are held on various aspects of this topic.

Other recommended hotels in the area are Hotel Mansor (https://www.mansor.pl/) and Hotel Mistral (https://hotelmistral.pl/). CTSS does not have a discount arrangement with these hotels. Also, you cannot walk from these hotels to the college, but there is public transport, and CTSS can organize transport for people in these hotels in private cars (if necessary).
